  • I was a faker before you.

There’s a line in a song that I love: “I was a faker before you”. When I catch myself singing one song lyric in my head over and over, that’s usually the lyric.

I kinda like the idea of being redeemed in your trust for another person. That we can let the walls we spent so much time meticulously building come tumblin’ down. I like the idea of standing barefaced and beautiful in the rubble, take me as I am.

I think it also supports the rowboat/Yacht theory. The rowboat makes it so easy to pretend, you are faking in the childish ways we find safe, hiding behind the somedays and the maybes, pulling into the marshes of life and weathering the storm under ponchos with picnic lunches our mothers packed for us. The Yacht is long term and spending your storms in the cabin with your first mate leaves little room for unhealthy make believe. You must surrender the fantasy.
